Updating the Dancing Dog Ranch

Sorry we missed Fix-It-Friday last week, but the weather just wasn’t cooperating. So let’s have a Make it Better Monday.

Stroke of Genius is the creative sort and actually sees all the clutter here and the things that need to be fixed. It’s nice to have a fresh pair of eyes around. As we were sitting on the porch one night, he announced that the outside of the house needed a face lift and he could do it with just a gallon of paint. I thought my budget could afford that.

Here was the issue at hand.

Worn out Wood

Promoted by sunshine and water, these unsealed wood frames around my doors and windows were pretty worn out. Stroke Of Genius suggested a nice barn yard red (the standard color of the country) which would lot only seal the wood, but make the house pop.

Painting the trim

SOG claims it goes pretty fast for a couple of reasons – he’s tall enough not to have to use a ladder and he can “cut in” paint very well. I’m glad he took on this project because my expertise with painting comes in dealing with cleaning up all the paint I’ve spilled.

Look at the difference a little paint can make!

By the way, if you look down at the bottom of the picture, you’ll see a gallon jug. SOG cut out part of it and uses it as his paint can. The handle’s still there so it’s easy to move and he only pours out as much as he needs per window. Very handy.

On a roll action shot

It ended up taking him a little over 30 minutes a window and this was the end result.

By the way, notice my clean windows!

Really popped the porch, don’t you think? His next project is the trim up under the roof and then the back side of the house. But fickle weather has kept the project from completion at this point. Heck, it’s February, isn’t it?

The grass is greener than it was in August…

Well Stroke of Genius worked hard but the rest of the group around here never even volunteered.

The Dog Days of Winter

Tomorrow, you won’t believe what I have to show you. I mean really crazy stuff!

Spreading paint throughout the hill country…one drip at a time.
